The Korean Cultural Center yesterday organized a special show for the Korean movie “Parasite”, which won four Oscars at the Galaxie Cairo Festival Cinema, with the participation of a number of foreign ambassadors accredited to Cairo, movie stars and a group of Korean culture lovers in Egypt.
In his speech in front of the audience, led by the great artist Ilham Shaheen, honorary president of the Sharm El Sheikh Film Festival, Korean Ambassador Yoon Yun Chol expressed his gratitude to all fans of Korean culture in Egypt, noting that the Korean cinema is miserable now, after the movie “parasite” won a share Al-Assad at the Academy Awards for the current year, in a first-ever precedent as the first non-English language film.
The Korean ambassador added that the Korean music “K-Pop” is making its way for the pilgrims steadily, as it is expected that the new album of the “BTS” team will occupy the first rank in the American “Billboard 200” list of the best-selling music albums in the United States, which makes me say that the cinema Korean and K-pop capture the global stage.
Ambassador Yoon explained that the sense of humor and symbolism contained in “Parasitic” is purely Korean, and it may be difficult for the foreign viewer to grasp it. But it seems clear that class inequality has become a contemporary global issue, which has made millions around the world watch “parasitic”.
Th film was attended by ambassadors of Spain, Singapore, Australia, Finland, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Kazakhstan and Chile, and the seventh art stars are film director Hani Lasheen, Kamal Abdel Aziz, director of photography and media Rasha Suleiman and great writer Jamal Zaida, head of the Sharm El Sheikh Film Festival and Dr. Ahlam Younes, former president of the Academy of Arts.
