In farewell press conference yesterday, The German ambassador to Cairo, Julius Georg Luy, expressed his great happiness spending his last official period in Egypt, the mother of universe.. He wanted to highlight and focus on the achievements carried out during his work.. So, the following summit was:

* A pivotal role!

Luy  said, “Egypt has regional responsibilities as it plays a pivotal role in reducing tension in the Gulf because it has a voice – and enjoys soft power on many issues such as her existence in Gaza, Sudan and Libya. Germany also cooperates with Egypt on many regional security issues such as insuranced navigation in the Red Sea.”

* Navigation!

“Germany and Egypt do their best in solving political crises, especially the Gulf ones. We are keen to cooperate with Egypt so that we can reach results on the issues of the region, especially with regard to navigation in the Red Sea so as not to be affected negatively. There are many points we are working on, whether Germany or the European Union agree with each other.”, added Mr ambassador.

* Education!

The German ambassador stressed the interest of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in the education file and the state’s interest in raising the efficiency of educational systems. He expressed his dissatisfaction with attempts by some to circumvent the laws and try to pressure these schools by contacting some people and parties to include some students without complying with the laws and rules. Schools and their independence. The success of German schools in Egypt is due to adherence to international scientific and educational standards and good choice of students on sound foundations.

He added that the German government supports these schools between 10 and 12 million euros to reduce the cost of parents who want to teach their children in German schools, noting that there are requests in Germany for this favor to join these schools, but these schools can accommodate only 25% Of those requests.

* German Schools!

The german schools are independent and the German government and the embassy can not intervene to influence them in the selection of students. The total number of schools in Egypt is seven, all of which grant certificates that allow graduates to study in a wide range of internationally recognized universities.

* Nile Water!

The ambassador stressed that the resolution of disputes over sharing of the Nile water will be negotiated as a political solution, and Berlin believes that the Egyptian government is more than an initiative to reach a consensus solution with all in accordance with the principles of equitable sharing of Nile water, taking into account the Egyptian situation since most of Egypt is desert and the large population, The German position is neutral and does not take sides at the expense of another in the Nile water sharing negotiations.

* Century Deal!

Julius Loei explained that all that has been raised about the deal of the century so far is speculation and guesses, that German policies will not change, and that the two-state solution will be reached and a negotiated solution will be reached, the European Union is against Washington after announcing the deal of the century.

* Iran!

Berlin sees the nuclear agreement with Iran as the basis for peace and stability in the region and has therefore participated in it from the beginning, and is sticking to it despite the US position of withdraw from the agreement.

* Libya!

Mr ambassador explained that the German position on the Libyan situation is necessary to reach a negotiated political solution and allow the political process to be carried out under the support of the United Nations, announcing the handover of Germany to Egypt yesterday to detect modern explosives that reveal the entire human body and the explosives contained in the cooperation and training for Egyptian cadres in securing airports against terrorist schemes and other forms of cooperation  against terrorism.

* Muslim Brotherhood!

Loei stressed that Germany is monitoring the activity of the Muslim Brotherhood on its territory and all other organizations to ensure that it works according to the German laws. On the debt swap program, the ambassador explained that German Chancellor Angela Merkel stipulated in 2017 the return of the program for the release of prisoners in the case of German civil society organizations, which has already been done and is currently a new segment of the program in the approval stage, but it takes time to activate them.

*Egy-population.. Biggest Challenge!

Luy pointed out that the population growth is the biggest challenge facing Egypt and it is necessary to develop objective Egyptian solutions to this phenomenon and within the framework of Egypt through projects that have preventive status to raise awareness of population culture other than the responsibility of the Egyptian government and clerics in the country. The increase of population in Egypt is no less dangerous than terrorism, stressing that the actions taken by the government began to be effective.

* Farewell, But The Spouse Restores!

Suddenly, the ambassador Luy announced that he would leave Egypt next month for his retirement age on June 30, where he will take over the house, while his wife returns to work at the State Department as diplomatic after a period of leave.
