The British Embassy brought together world-class British healthcare providers and Egyptian partners to discuss their support to universal healthcare reform in Egypt.
15 December – The British Ambassador to Egypt Sir Geoffrey Adams and 25 representatives of British healthcare and telecommunication companies met to discuss future opportunities in Egypt’s healthcare sector, at Vodafone Egypt’s premises in Cairo.
Leading healthcare companies such as GlaxoSmithKline, Bupa, AstraZeneca, and Integrated Diagnostics Holdings, as well as senior representatives from the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population, British Egyptian Business Association and Egyptian British Chamber of Commerce participated in the meeting.
The UK-Egypt Healthcare Initiative, led by the British Embassy, brings together top British investors, healthcare service providers and the Egyptian government to ensure that the UK offers the best of the National Health Service’s expertise to support Egypt’s healthcare reforms.
During their meeting, they discussed existing and future support to the universal healthcare reform programme in Egypt, including training for doctors and nurses and digital health partnerships. The participating companies also discussed the potential opportunities offered at the upcoming Africa Investment Summit on 20 January in London.
During the forum, Vodafone Egypt presented a demonstration of its digital products that are supporting Egypt’s universal health insurance project, in partnership with the Government across governorates.
British Ambassador to Egypt Sir Geoffrey Adams said: “The UK and Egypt are seeking to strengthen our partnership in the healthcare sector. Together, we are improving and modernising healthcare services to Egyptians, training medical professionals, and encouraging more world-class British companies to invest in Egypt’s healthcare sector.”
