The Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Cairo organized a Turkish Iftar within the framework of Turkish Cuisine Week. Many high-ranking journalists from Turkey also attended the Turkish Iftar.
At the traditional Turkish breakfast ceremony held on May 21, which was organized for the second year in a row, Ambassador Salih Mutlu Shen welcomed the Egyptian journalists and media figures and provided information about the advantages of the Turkish breakfast.
Ambassador Shen said that breakfast is the most important meal in Turkish culture. In particular, eating a healthy and delicious modern Turkish breakfast, consisting of items such as olives, olive oil, tomatoes, yoghurt, eggs, vegetables and borek cheese, is a healthy meal suitable for the requirements of modern life, and also offers a healthy and delicious alternative.
He stated that health experts and doctors advise the importance of starting the day with a healthy breakfast in order to live an active and productive life away from heart disease.
On this occasion, Ambassador Salih Mutlu Shen spoke about the development of relations between Turkey and Egypt in the fields of tourism, economy, trade, industry, sports and culture. He stated that the Turkish press delegation currently present is an example of this.
He pointed out that Turkey participated two days ago in the U-23 Mediterranean Games in Ismailia with a team consisting of 50 athletes. He pointed out that Turkish sports teams are 2-3 times larger than other teams, saying that this shows the extent of the desire and interest of Turkish athletes in coming to Egypt.
In the field of culture, Ambassador Shen pointed out that joint works by Turkish composers and Egyptian composers were presented yesterday at the Cairo Opera.
Regarding tourism, he said that he personally attended the Egyptian-African Tourism Forum, which was organized and supported by the Turkish Rixos Hotel in Sharm El-Sheikh yesterday.
He said that the African Tourism Forum is an initiative launched by Turkish tourism companies and was organized for the first time in Egypt, and that Egypt is one of the most important African tourism destinations and in this context, Turkish tourism companies and this forum also support Egyptian tourism.
He stated that he attended the opening of two new Egyptian hotels in Marsa Alam two days ago. He confirmed that both hotels purchased kitchen equipment, various tourist materials, and a water park from Turkey, and that they worked with Turkish tourism companies, and that these companies made great contributions to Egyptian tourism.
In this context, he stated that the most important service provided to tourists in the Turkish tourism sector and the Egyptian tourism sector is food and its supply, and breakfast is the most important element in this framework.
Ambassador Salih Mutlu Shen stated in this context that Türkiye will continue its humanitarian and food aid to Gaza in cooperation with Egypt.
He said that, unfortunately, due to the deteriorating security situation on the border, aid shipments stopped temporarily, but there is no alternative to Egypt in delivering humanitarian aid, especially food, to Gaza.
He stated that the United Nations authorities also said that 95 percent of the humanitarian aid, especially food supplies, that entered Gaza so far entered through Egypt via the Rafah crossing.
He said that he hopes that the security situation will improve as soon as possible and that humanitarian aid will begin from Egypt to Gaza. He stressed that the Rafah operation launched by Israel, despite all warnings, is responsible for the deterioration of the security situation, and that it is necessary for Israel to withdraw from the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing, which it illegally occupies, as soon as possible, and that this is a demand. For both Türkiye and Egypt.
Ambassador Salih Mutlu Shen said that high-level visits between Turkey and Egypt will increase intensively during the coming period.
He added that during these visits, ways of cooperation and solidarity will be discussed on issues of concern to both parties, especially Palestine.
