  Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman and director of the Public Diplomacy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received a phone call today, July 17, from Norway’s Foreign Minister, “Aniken Huetfeld,” discussing ways to support and strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and Norway, and developments in the situation in Sudan and the Palestinian cause.

  The Foreign Ministry spokesman stated that the two ministers affirmed, during the call, the aspiration of Egypt and Norway to strengthen and advance bilateral relations in various fields, adding that the Norwegian minister was keen to inquire about the Foreign Minister’s assessment of the outcomes of the summit of Sudan’s neighboring countries, praising the Egyptian initiative to hold the summit, and expressing her aspiration for the The efforts of Sudan’s neighboring countries contribute to resolving the Sudanese crisis and stopping the ongoing war.

  The Foreign Minister was keen to review Egypt’s efforts since the beginning of the crisis, to demand an immediate ceasefire, to welcome the Sudanese brothers in Egypt, and to support the border crossings with the necessary medical, relief and humanitarian teams and equipment to provide support to the Sudanese arrivals. Shoukry praised the consensus of the participating countries at the recent summit on emphasizing full respect for the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Sudan, non-interference in its internal affairs, the importance of preserving Sudanese state institutions, serious and comprehensive dealing with the current crisis and its humanitarian consequences, in addition to facilitating the entry of humanitarian aid through the territories of neighboring countries, emphasizing the importance of a political solution to stop the ongoing conflict, and forming a ministerial mechanism on the crisis at the level of foreign ministers of neighboring countries.

On the other hand, and based on an inquiry from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway, Mr. Sameh Shoukry reviewed Egypt’s assessment of the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, stressing the need to stop the ongoing cycle of violence, and put an end to the repeated Israeli incursions against Palestinian cities and villages, and the importance of concerted international efforts to achieve calm. And restore hope for the resumption of the peace process.
