Today, the General Secretariat of the Arab League witnessed a visit from His Excellency Mr. Tang Renjian, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, and his accompanying delegation, where they were received – on behalf of the Secretary-General of the League – Mr. Ambassador Hossam Zaki, Assistant Secretary-General.
An official source stated that Ambassador Hossam Zaki praised during the meeting the level of Arab-Chinese relations, which have witnessed remarkable development since the establishment of the Arab-Chinese Cooperation Forum in 2004, which culminated in the holding of the first Arab-Chinese summit in December 2022 in Riyadh, with the aim of strengthening cooperation between the two sides in various political and economic fields. and cultural.
The source stated that Ambassador Hossam Zaki also stressed the importance that the Arab League attaches to strengthening Arab-Chinese cooperation, especially in the agricultural field, in light of its interest in achieving Arab food security as well as the current crises that threaten global food security, pointing to the importance of exchanging agricultural experiences and transferring modern technology to improve productivity of the agricultural sector.
For his part, Mr. Renjian appreciated the Arab-Chinese relations that extend throughout history, stressing China’s intention to expand cooperation with the Arab side in the agricultural field because of its importance in achieving development and stability, and referring to the efforts made by China to build cooperative relations with Arab countries that culminated in the signing of memorandums of cooperation. With 7 Arab countries, in addition to the existing bilateral cooperation programs with the competent ministries in a number of Arab countries.
Minister Renjian also presented his country’s vision on developing the Arab-Chinese partnership in the agricultural field. Ambassador Hossam Zaki expressed his appreciation for the valuable proposals submitted by the Chinese side, which will form a solid ground for launching a cooperative path that benefits everyone, stressing the importance of signing the memorandum of understanding between the General Secretariat and China in The agricultural field, from which an Arab-Chinese mechanism will emerge to implement joint cooperation programmes.
