Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman and director of the Public Diplomacy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Mr. Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a phone call today, August 22, from Cuba’s Foreign Minister, “Bruno Rodriguez.”
Ambassador Abu Zeid said that the Cuban Foreign Minister expressed his country’s appreciation for the remarkable development witnessed by the bilateral relations between the two countries, and its aspiration for Egypt’s participation in the Group of 77 and China summit scheduled to be held on September 15-16, 2023 in the Cuban capital, Havana.
In this context, Minister Sameh Shoukry valued the extended historical relations between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1958, pointing to Egypt’s aspiration to strengthen ties of cooperation and friendship with Cuba, especially in the economic and commercial fields. He also expressed appreciation for the coordination with Cuba in international multilateral forums, and the efforts made by the Cuban presidency of the Group of 77 and China.
