Farhan receives a phone call from US Secretary of State

His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a phone call today from His Excellency the Secretary of State of the United States of America, Anthony Blinken.

During the phone call, the two ministers discussed the danger of the continued military escalation in Gaza and its surroundings, and the necessity of working to find the necessary ways to defuse the tension and for the international community to come together to mitigate the repercussions of this crisis in a way that contributes to maintaining international peace and security.

 The two sides also discussed developments on the regional and international arenas, and the efforts made in this regard.

Yesterday, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received at the Ministry’s office in Riyadh, His Excellency the Secretary of State of the United States of America, Anthony Blinken.

At the beginning of the meeting, His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed the Kingdom’s categorical rejection of calls for the forced displacement of the Palestinian people from Gaza, expressing his condemnation of targeting civilians in any form.

 His Highness stressed the Kingdom’s demand for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and its surroundings, and to lift the siege on the Strip in line with international law, and to work to ensure the entry of urgent humanitarian aid, such as food and medicine, and the need to make a rapid collective effort to stop the ongoing cycle of violence and all forms of military escalation against civilians. To prevent a humanitarian catastrophe.

His Highness explained that the priority now is to work to prevent the fall of more innocent civilians as a result of the ongoing cycle of violence, and stressed the need for Israel to adhere to international humanitarian law, and that any actions that contradict international law and international humanitarian law will exacerbate the depth of the current crisis and increase the suffering in that region.

His Highness the Minister explained that dialogue is the only path to finding a just and comprehensive political solution to the conflict, and that the international community must assume its responsibility to stop the violence and advance the peace process in accordance with the resolutions of the Security Council, the United Nations General Assembly, and the Arab Peace Initiative.

The reception was attended by Her Royal Highness Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan, Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the United States of America, and the Undersecretary for Political Affairs, Dr. Saud Al-Sati.
