His Excellency Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, is heading a parliamentary delegation to the Uzbek capital, Tashkent, to participate in the 150th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and its accompanying meetings, scheduled to be held in the Republic of Uzbekistan from April 5 to 9.
The Speaker of the Arab Parliament is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech before the Inter-Parliamentary Union General Assembly. He will also participate in the coordination meeting of the Arab Group, which precedes the Inter-Parliamentary Union meetings, with the aim of coordinating Arab positions on the items on the agenda of the General Assembly. He will also participate in the meetings of the Governing Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Fourth Conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement.
On the sidelines of these meetings, the Speaker of the Arab Parliament is scheduled to hold several bilateral meetings, including a meeting with the Chairwoman of the Senate of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the host chamber of the meetings, as well as with the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the Secretary-General of the Union, and several other parliamentary figures.
Members of the Arab Parliament delegation will also participate in meetings of the Women Parliamentarians Forum and meetings of the Union’s standing committees, including the Committee on International Peace and Security, the Committee on Sustainable Development, the Committee on Democracy and Human Rights, and the Committee on United Nations Affairs.
The Arab Parliament delegation includes members of the Arab Parliament: His Excellency MP Saad Al-Otaibi, His Excellency MP Ali Al-Khalayleh, and Her Excellency MP Khadija Hajoubi. From the General Secretariat, His Excellency Counselor Kamel Mohamed Farid Shaarawy, Secretary-General of the Arab Parliament; Dr. Ashraf Abdel Aziz, Political Advisor to the Speaker of the Arab Parliament and Director of the Foreign Relations Department; Mr. Ahmed Adel, Protocol Officer; and Ms. Radwa Al-Sisi, Media Officer.
