Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, received a phone call on Thursday, April 3, from Ms. Beata Meinl-Reisinger, the new Austrian Foreign Minister. The call addressed overall bilateral relations, developments in the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, the situations in Syria, Sudan, and Yemen, and the issue of water security.
Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Abdel Aty congratulated the Austrian Minister on assuming her new position and expressed his aspiration to work together to strengthen all aspects of bilateral relations and coordination on regional and international issues. He also expressed his aspiration to support economic relations, trade exchange, and investment between the two countries, and to advance bilateral technical cooperation, particularly in the field of immigration and the legal and institutional organization of the movement of Egyptian workers to Austria.
Regarding the developments in the Israeli aggression on Gaza, the Foreign Minister reviewed Egypt’s vision for ending the crisis and its efforts to return to the ceasefire agreement and consolidate it in its three stages, as well as finding sustainable solutions to the conflict in light of the ongoing Israeli escalation. He emphasized the need to pressure the Israeli government to immediately cease fire and speed up the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
Regarding the situation in Syria, Dr. Abdel Aati reviewed Egypt’s position on the developments there, stressing the need to halt blatant Israeli violations in Syrian territory. He emphasized Egypt’s support for Syrian institutions and a comprehensive political process that ensures the participation of all segments of Syrian society.
