The Arab Republic of Egypt and the State of Qatar welcome the announcement by Hamas of its approval to release the American hostage *Idan Alexander*, who was being held by the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas. This move is seen as a goodwill gesture and an encouraging step toward bringing the parties back to the negotiating table to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, facilitate the release of prisoners and detainees, and ensure the safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to address the dire situation in the region.
Both sides reaffirm the urgent need to end the war on Gaza to prevent further humanitarian consequences and to move forward with sincere will and good faith toward achieving a comprehensive, just, and sustainable peace in the region.
Egypt and Qatar also reiterate their continued coordinated mediation efforts in the Gaza file, in partnership with the United States, to alleviate civilian suffering and create the conditions necessary for a comprehensive de-escalation that leads to an end to the war and the humanitarian catastrophe it has caused.
