Amb. Elkhan Polukhov Bids Farewell to His Lithuanian Counterpart in a Cultural Evening Celebrating Caucasus, Balkans, and European Ties in the Heart of Cairo
In a warm and distinguished gesture of diplomatic camaraderie, H.E. Ambassador *Elkhan Polukhov*, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Egypt, hosted a farewell dinner in honor of H.E. *Artūras Gailiūnas*, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania, marking the conclusion of his tenure in Cairo.
The gathering was attended by a select group of ambassadors and diplomats accredited in Cairo, along with prominent figures from Egypt’s cultural and academic spheres. The evening was rich with conversations reflecting a deep appreciation for the intertwined histories and cultural legacies of the Caucasus, the Balkans, Eastern and Northern Europe, as well as Turkey and Anatolia — all within the context of Egypt’s historical openness to diversity and cross-cultural dialogue.
Ambassador Polukhov delivered a heartfelt speech expressing his appreciation for Ambassador Gailiūnas’s dedication to fostering bilateral ties and intercultural understanding. He praised his Lithuanian counterpart’s efforts in strengthening the diplomatic and cultural bridges between Lithuania and Egypt.
For his part, Ambassador Gailiūnas expressed gratitude for the collegial spirit that marked his mission in Cairo. He paid tribute to Egypt’s rich cultural landscape and its capacity to embrace diversity and foster meaningful connections across regions and traditions.
