ISLAMABAD (APP) – Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday welcomed the Supplemental Award issued by the Permanent Court of Arbitration concerning the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), calling it a clear reinforcement of Pakistan’s legal stance.
“The court’s ruling reaffirms that India cannot unilaterally suspend or violate the Treaty,” the Prime Minister stated, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding Pakistan’s water resources, which he described as “the lifeline of the nation.”
He also praised Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and Attorney General Mansoor Awan for their instrumental roles in securing this favorable outcome.
“This is a significant legal and diplomatic success,” he added, underlining the government’s commitment to protecting the country’s water rights under international law.
