In a move that reflects the strategic foresight and calculated dynamism of Egyptian diplomacy, Foreign Minister and Minister of Migration Dr. Badr Abdelatty launched a five-nation tour of West Africa on Monday, July 21, 2025, beginning in the Nigerian capital, Abuja. The tour includes Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Niger, Mali, and Senegal.
This diplomatic mission comes as part of Egypt’s broader effort to strengthen its bilateral ties with fellow African nations and deepen consultation and coordination on regional and international issues of mutual concern — foremost among them, regional security and counterterrorism in the Sahel and West Africa.
During the visit, Minister Abdelatty is scheduled to hold high-level talks with senior Nigerian officials, along with representatives from regional blocs, the Nigerian business community, and members of the Egyptian diaspora.
Notably, the Foreign Minister is accompanied by a top-level economic delegation of 30 CEOs and representatives from major Egyptian companies across various sectors. Their presence underscores Egypt’s commitment to expanding economic, trade, and investment cooperation with West African countries.
This tour reflects Egypt’s continued engagement with the African continent and its pursuit of long-term partnerships grounded in mutual respect, development, and shared stability. It embodies a broader Egyptian vision that seeks to foster sustainable development and reinforce regional stability across Africa — a vision stretching from the banks of the Nile to the heart of the Sahel.
