At the outset of his visit to the United States, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, met with members of the Egyptian community in New York on Sunday, July 27. The meeting reflects the Egyptian government’s commitment to strengthening connections with its diaspora and recognizing their pivotal role abroad.

Dr. Abdelatty emphasized his dedication to engaging with Egyptian communities during his international visits, praising the significant contributions of Egyptians in the United States to the deep-rooted ties between the two countries.

In his remarks, the Minister highlighted the immense challenges facing the region, stressing that Egypt continues to exert relentless efforts to safeguard its national security and uphold domestic stability amidst a complex regional and global landscape. He commended the awareness and resilience of the Egyptian people and the unity of the home front, especially during turbulent times. He also noted the strength of Egypt’s economy in withstanding successive global crises, particularly the ongoing repercussions of the war in Gaza.

Minister Abdelatty reaffirmed that protecting the interests of Egyptians abroad is a top national priority. He outlined ongoing efforts by the Ministry to modernize and streamline consular services through digital transformation and institutional partnerships. These include secure digital money transfer solutions, facilitating overseas bank account openings, and offering access to residential units and agricultural land under flexible conditions. The government is also launching initiatives to support education and provide preferential benefits for expatriates in Egyptian universities.

The Minister expressed the state’s determination to enhance communication channels with the diaspora and announced that preparations are underway for the sixth edition of the “Egyptians Abroad Conference”, scheduled for August 3–4, 2025. The event aims to serve as a national platform for direct dialogue and policy exchange between the state and its citizens overseas.

The meeting concluded with an open discussion, where members of the community shared their perspectives and suggestions on improving consular services and strengthening support for Egyptians abroad.
