Cairo, September 14 — Today, U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Herro Mustafa Garg inaugurated a week-long visit by a U.S. business delegation aimed at exploring collaboration with Egyptian partners in developing world-class ports. Representatives from leading American companies — including Bechtel, Cisco, Hill International, TMEIC, OSI/Rapiscan, Aveva, and Alvarez & Marsal Holdings — will join the Ambassador in visiting ports in Alexandria, Damietta, Port Said, and Ain Sokhna. These engagements are set to further strengthen U.S.-Egypt economic ties and mutual prosperity.

Ambassador Mustafa Garg highlighted the significance of the delegation: “The companies represented in Alexandria today embody the best of American innovation, technology, and expertise. They have a proven track record of delivering transformative solutions to port infrastructure and operations worldwide. This U.S. business delegation is eager to support Egypt’s port development efforts, laying the groundwork for enhanced security, economic growth, and prosperity for both our nations.” She added, “This important event is made possible through our close relationship with Egypt’s Ministry of Transportation and, especially, with Deputy Prime Minister Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir.”

The U.S.-Egypt economic relationship remains a cornerstone of regional stability and global trade. In 2024, total goods and services traded between the United States and Egypt reached an estimated $12.4 billion, marking a 17.5 percent increase from 2023. Egypt continues to be the United States’ largest market in Africa, with more than 1,800 American companies operating in the country, underscoring the depth of this partnership. These collaborations create jobs, advance innovation, and enhance security.

By supporting Egypt’s port development, U.S. companies will help secure critical trade routes, strengthen global supply chain resilience, and expand opportunities for American businesses abroad. These initiatives reinforce U.S. economic leadership while generating high-quality employment domestically.

The U.S. Embassy in Cairo reaffirms its commitment to the growing economic partnership between the two countries, which delivers tangible benefits to both Egyptians and Americans. Together, they are laying a foundation for shared prosperity, innovation, and security that will endure for generations.
