Cairo, September 25, 2025 – Dr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, accompanied by Dr. Jürgen Schulz, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Cairo, inaugurated the first Egyptian–German School in 6th of October City. The launch marks a significant step towards modern education that fuses national identity with global standards.
Minister Abdel Latif highlighted that the schools represent an innovative model combining international standards with Egyptian cultural values. The schools will be managed by Egypt, with Germany providing technical support and professional training for teachers through cooperation with the German Embassy, the Goethe-Institut, and the Central Agency for German Schools Abroad.
The new institution offers a comprehensive system from kindergarten to high school, operating on a full-day basis. Students will receive Egyptian certificates alongside an accredited German language certificate, creating pathways to higher education in both Egypt and Germany.
German will be taught as the first foreign language, while Arabic, religious studies, and social sciences will remain core pillars to preserve national identity.
Ambassador Schulz described the occasion as a milestone in Egyptian–German educational relations, stating: “This school is more than just an educational project – it is a true opportunity for a diverse and hopeful future.”
Echoing this sentiment, Lily Köbler, Regional Director of the Goethe-Institut, expressed pride in the initiative, noting that the project will empower Egyptian youth and unlock new horizons of creativity and knowledge. This school is the first of 100 planned Egyptian–German schools across the country.
The schools aim to cultivate a new generation of learners, combining academic achievement with life skills, technological proficiency, environmental awareness, and creativity. Their mission is to nurture critical thinking, initiative, and innovation, preparing students with confidence and competence for the challenges of tomorrow.
