At the directive of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, led the delegation of the Sultanate of Oman to the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, hosted by the Arab Republic of Egypt on Monday, 13 October 2025.
The historic summit gathered a number of world leaders and representatives of regional and international organizations to discuss efforts to consolidate the ceasefire in Gaza and advance a just and comprehensive peace process in the Middle East.
During the proceedings, the “Peace Document” was signed by the mediating nations—the United States, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of Turkey, and the State of Qatar—in the presence of heads of state and delegations, reflecting a growing global consensus toward political resolution and de-escalation.
In a statement on this occasion, His Excellency Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi expressed Oman’s deep appreciation to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and President Donald Trump for co-chairing this landmark summit. He noted that the past two years had witnessed tragic humanitarian suffering, and that the ceasefire had saved hundreds of lives and rekindled hope for thousands of Palestinian families. He affirmed that this moment represents a genuine opportunity to launch a serious path toward achieving comprehensive and lasting justice for this cherished region of the world.
The Omani Foreign Minister added that while the road ahead remains long and fraught with challenges, sincere cooperation and joint action enhance the prospects for a future of enduring peace and shared prosperity. He reiterated that the Sultanate of Oman will remain a faithful advocate of peace and an active supporter of all efforts that uphold the values of understanding, coexistence, and the rule of law.
Oman’s participation in the summit comes in line with its long-standing position advocating dialogue and peaceful means to resolve disputes, as well as its consistent support for international and regional efforts aimed at consolidating security, stability, and the achievement of a just and lasting peace in the region and the world.
