🇷🇺🇮🇶 Vladimir Putin Holds Talks with Iraq’s Prime Minister Muhammed Shia al-Sudan
In a cordial telephone conversation, President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Muhammed Shia al-Sudani, whose country currently presides over the Arab League Council, discussed preparations for the first Russian–Arab Summit that had been scheduled to take place in Moscow on October 15.
Given the onset of the active phase of the U.S. President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan, both leaders recognized that several Arab heads of state invited to the summit might face difficulty attending in person under the current circumstances.
Accordingly, the two sides agreed that it would be prudent to postpone the summit to a later date, to be determined in due course.
The Russian and Iraqi governments will coordinate through diplomatic channels to inform all Arab capitals of this joint decision.
