In a moment reminiscent of dawn breaking over a country long tested by turmoil, Libya’s Attorney General, Counselor Al-Siddiq Al-Sour, inaugurated the Criminal Research and Training Center in Tripoli—marking a decisive step toward strengthening the nation’s judicial foundations and restoring the authority of the state.

The newly launched center, established with the participation of 19 countries and 14 international organizations, represents a significant leap in Libya’s efforts to modernize its judicial and investigative capabilities. Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Attorney General emphasized that the center is part of a comprehensive vision aimed at enhancing the skills of judicial personnel and keeping pace with global advancements in combating crime in all its forms. He reaffirmed the Public Prosecution’s commitment to upholding justice, reinforcing the rule of law, and rebuilding public trust in state institutions.

Officials noted that the center is expected to bring about measurable improvements in government performance and strengthen citizens’ confidence in the justice system—an essential step amid the complex and fragile security conditions facing the country and the inconsistent performance of some security agencies.

On the sidelines of the inauguration, the Libyan Public Prosecution announced the launch of a national comprehensive anti-corruption strategy, designed to cement the principles of transparency, protect public funds, and reinforce mechanisms of accountability across state institutions.

The strategy comes as Libya’s need for a stronger legal and oversight framework becomes increasingly urgent. It outlines practical measures to advance investigative systems, enhance financial and administrative oversight, and expand the Public Prosecution’s tools in tracking and confronting corruption in all its manifestations.

Together, the inauguration of the Criminal Research and Training Center and the unveiling of the anti-corruption strategy signal Libya’s resolve to rebuild its institutions, restore integrity to public life, and reaffirm that the path to justice—however long—begins with a bold and deliberate step. Today, that step was taken in Tripoli.
