Acting under the directives of the President of the Republic, Dr. Badr Abdel Aaty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, on Saturday, February 14, headed Egypt’s delegation to the African Union Summit. The high-level gathering convenes African heads of state and government to advance collective African action and address the continent’s pressing political, security, and development challenges.

On behalf of the President, the Foreign Minister is set to present the report of the Peace and Security Council and an assessment of the state of peace and security across Africa, reflecting Egypt’s presidency of the Council during February 2026. The presentation underscores ongoing efforts to monitor evolving security dynamics, strengthen preventive diplomacy, and enhance collective mechanisms aimed at conflict resolution and regional stability.

Minister Abdel Aaty will also deliver the President’s report on Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development in Africa, highlighting continental initiatives designed to support countries emerging from conflict, consolidate peacebuilding pathways, and foster sustainable development. In addition, he will present the activities report of the Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee of the African Union Development Agency (NEPAD), demonstrating sustained efforts to accelerate development projects and deepen economic integration across the continent.

The Summit’s agenda further includes key strategic issues such as advancing sustainable development goals, enhancing the institutional performance of the African Union, strengthening its role within the Group of Twenty, combating diseases and pandemics, addressing climate change, and advancing reform of the United Nations Security Council. These discussions aim to reinforce regional integration, bolster institutional responsiveness to emerging challenges, and realize the aspirations of African peoples for lasting stability and shared prosperity.
