Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Welcomes Egyptian Media Delegation and Highlights Talks with Canada, the UK, and Efforts Against Ebola

Lin Jian, Spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, warmly welcomed the visiting Egyptian media delegation to Beijing, expressing his delight at meeting the group and recalling his fond memories of Egypt, a country he holds in high regard.

Lin praised the steady growth of China–Egypt relations, noting that the two nations are celebrating the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties this year. He also highlighted the recent exchange of greetings and congratulatory messages between President Xi Jinping and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, describing it as a reflection of the strong Comprehensive Strategic Partnership that continues to unite the two countries.

During the regular press briefing of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lin Jian reviewed several key diplomatic issues. He referred to the meeting between the Chinese Foreign Minister and his Canadian counterpart, where both sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation on matters of mutual interest, emphasizing the importance of managing differences through constructive dialogue and mutual respect.

He also addressed the Foreign Minister’s meeting with his British counterpart, during which views were exchanged on bilateral relations as well as major regional and international issues. China, he noted, remains committed to enhancing communication and cooperation with international partners through dialogue and practical engagement.

On global health matters, Lin Jian commented on developments related to the Ebola outbreak, affirming that China is closely monitoring the situation and supports international efforts to contain the disease. He stressed Beijing’s continued provision of humanitarian assistance and technical support to affected countries as part of its commitment to international cooperation in addressing cross-border health challenges.

The briefing reflected China’s broader diplomatic vision of fostering dialogue, expanding cooperation, and strengthening long-standing strategic partnerships—particularly with Egypt, whose seven-decade relationship with China continues to serve as a model of mutual respect, friendship, and shared development.
