Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, attended a ceremony honoring the Egyptian companies that won awards in the Istanbul and Carthage International Olive and Olive Oil Competitions, held in collaboration with the Chamber of Food Industries of the Federation of Egyptian Industries.
The event was also attended by H.E. Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen, Ambassador of Turkey to Egypt; Ms. Rana Gamal, Vice Chairperson of the Chamber of Food Industries; Eng. Hussein El-Seniny, Assistant Secretary General of Matrouh Governorate, representing Governor Maj. Gen. Khaled Shuaib; Dr. Mahmoud Hassan, Chairman of MedMart for Marketing and Business Development; Dr. Saad Moussa, Head of the Foreign Relations Sector at the Ministry of Agriculture; and Dr. Yasser Qarni, Director of Information Affairs and Export Services at the Egyptian Commercial Service.
Governor Saber emphasized the governorate’s commitment to supporting the olive and olive oil industry by organizing exhibitions and structured markets that offer Egyptian companies the opportunity to showcase their products. This initiative aims to increase reliance on local production, reduce imports, and provide goods at reasonable prices.
He further noted that numerous festivals are organized to promote the olive and olive oil sector in alignment with the directives of the political leadership to support local industries and their value chains, enhance investment revenues, and strengthen the food manufacturing system. These events also attract visitors from various Egyptian regions and international destinations to explore Egypt’s wide variety of olive products.
Egypt is ranked among the top 10 olive and olive oil producers globally, and the olive sector contributes approximately 4% of Egypt’s total food industry exports.
