Shoukry praises strong relations with Kuwait

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Monday 9/3/2020 expressed Egypt’s appreciation to the profound relations with Kuwait and its people.

He, also, hailed the momentum observed by relations in Kuwait in all fields, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. This came as Kuwait’s Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah al Khalid al Sabah received Shoukry today within the framework of his current visit to the Gulf country.

The foreign minister extended the congratulations of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli to his Kuwaiti counterpart on assuming his new post and best wishes for the accomplishing his mission, said Foreign Minister Spokesman Counselor Ahmed Hafez.

Shoukry reviewed the latest developments of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) negotiations and Egypt’s stance in this regard. The Egyptian top diplomat hailed the supportive Arab stance towards Egypt that has been crystallized during the last meeting of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level.

He also voiced Egypt’s appreciation to Kuwait’s supportive stance in this aspect. Shoukry touched on the key cooperation domains between the two countries.

The Kuwaiti premier, for his part, affirmed his country’s support to Egypt’s national security and interests, including the issue of the GERD. Al Sabah expressed his country’s eagerness to promote cooperation with Egypt in various spheres in a way that reflects the strong relations between the two countries.

Shoukry, meanwhile, met his Kuwait counterpart Ahmad Nasser Al Mohammad Al Sabah and tackled the notable development observed by the bilateral relations and ways of pushing them forward. Besides reviewing the latest updates of the GERD, the meeting tackled the stance of both countries towards the current regional challenges and issues of mutual concern.
