SIS – The summit talks between President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Sudanese President Omar Bashir on Saturday 27/1/2018 were positive and transparent, Sudanese Ambassador in Cairo Abdel Mahmoud Abdel Halim said.

In press statements on Sunday 28/1/2018, the diplomat said the summit discussed bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest.

The two leaders agreed on starting a new stage of brotherly relations based on mutual respect, joint interests and transparency, he added.

They agreed on forming a ministerial committee to draw a roadmap to solve pending issues between the two countries.

The committee, which will also group the heads of intelligence service in the two countries, will convene soon to put the roadmap into effect.

The diplomat expressed hope that media in the two countries would be more professional and neutral to avoid creating a negative atmosphere between the two countries.

He said no date has been set yet for his return to Cairo, adding that the date will be determined after his return from the AU Summit.

Sudan has recalled its ambassador from Egypt on January 4 for consultations, according to the Sudanese foreign ministry, without giving details on why or how long he would stay.
