With the opening of this year’s United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheikh, which will be held from November 6-18, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea is honored to release the digital artwork on the cooperation between Egypt and Korea for COP27 using graphics showing the distinctive characteristics of the two countries.

The image with the COP27 logo on top, showing the Egyptian eagle and the Korean tiger together to carry our beloved land, aims not only to promote the unshakeable bilateral relations between the two countries in the field of climate change, but also to raise awareness about COP27 especially among the younger generations in Egypt.

This artwork was designed by the Korean Embassy in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ms. Mennatallah Ayman, a famous Egyptian artist and a lover of Korean culture, currently working for a webtoon company in Korea. The Embassy uses digital art to present and share Korean culture with Egyptian youth in various areas of public diplomacy.

Ambassador Hong Jin-wook said that with the opening of COP27, the embassy will make more efforts to expand environmental cooperation between the two countries, and he hopes that with this drawing, many Egyptian youth will be interested not only in climate change issues, but also in Korean-Egyptian relations.

Ambassador Hong added that the Egyptian and Korean presidents had a phone conversation on October 20 to discuss ways to expand cooperation in various fields such as COP27, defense industries, infrastructure, and people-to-people exchanges. President Yoon Seok-yeol demonstrated his commitment to the Korean government to make every effort for the success of COP27 through his trustworthy and high-level political envoy Na Kyung-won to Sharm El-Sheikh to serve as the Presidential Special Envoy for Climate and Environment, who is also currently the Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Aging and Population Policy She held previous positions such as the representative of the ruling National Democratic Party, the Freedom Party of Korea, chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Unification of the Korean National Assembly and other high-level positions.

Ms. Mennatallah Ayman, a graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts, said that she is very happy to be part of this important project with this historic event and hopes that the cooperation of the two countries in the field of climate change will be strengthened.
