Al-Qasabi chairs the 18th session of the Saudi-Egyptian Joint Committee

Under the chairmanship of His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Foreign Trade, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, and His Excellency the Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry, Engineer Ahmed Samir, the Saudi-Egyptian Joint Committee concluded its 18th session, which was held in the city of Riyadh, during the days 3-4 of March 2024 AD, with the participation of Two delegations from the government sectors of the two countries.

His Excellency stressed the Kingdom’s keenness to strengthen trade relations with the sister Republic of Egypt, through the exchange of visits between the private sector, and the establishment of trade exhibitions that contribute to introducing opportunities and increasing the Kingdom’s exports to its sister country.

The 18th session aims to work based on the strategic directions between the two countries, solve the challenges facing the work of the joint committee, and approve its work, in addition to holding periodic meetings with internal authorities to follow up on the implementation of recommendations, and to supervise the work of the committee.

At the end of the meeting, His Excellency the Minister of Commerce, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and His Excellency the Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry, signed the minutes of the first meeting of the working group concerned with following up on the recommendations issued by the meetings of the eighteenth session of the Saudi-Egyptian Joint Committee and the items and recommendations it included that contribute to strengthening joint work between the Kingdom and the Republic of Egypt. It is noteworthy that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries – until November 2023 – amounted to about 11.8 billion dollars, as metal products, plastics and their products were the most prominent commodities exported to Egypt, while mineral products and fruits were the most prominent imported commodities.
