Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Pedro Sánchez, the Prime Minister of Spain, which is holding the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The call focused on the developments in the Gaza Strip. President El-Sisi and the Spanish Prime Minister expressed deep concern with regard to the ongoing escalation of violence and the gravely deteriorating security and humanitarian situations in the Strip. They emphasized the need to coordinate international efforts to urge the parties to adopt the path of de-escalation so as to prevent the loss of more innocent civilian lives and prevent the security repercussions of the conflict from expanding to the entire region.

President El-sisi reiterated the need for concerted efforts by the international community to ensure the delivery of humanitarian services and aid to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, and to strengthen efforts toward addressing the root-causes of the escalation, by achieving a just, comprehensive and lasting solution to the Palestinian cause.
