These days Azerbaijan is witnessing utmost preparedness at the level of all concerned bodies to hold the early parliamentary elections on February 9, 2020, which President Ilham Aliyev called on December 5, 2019.

The authorities are now updating the expired ballot papers from January 16 to tomorrow February 6 so that citizens can vote on the next Sunday, February 9, 2020.

According to Trend, according to the election calendar plan, absentee ballots must be submitted on the date indicated above.

The handover of ballot papers from the local election committees to the previous election committees also ends on February 6.

It is well known that the outgoing parliament consists primarily of pro-government representatives who represent the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) or formally independent members who support the ruling party NAP.

But, several opposition parties and movements have indicated that they plan to boycott these elections, although it is expected that the number of participating parties will reach 19 candidates.

Many emerging parties and civil unions form electoral coalitions with independent candidates.

For the Azerbaijani voter, economic, judicial and social reforms are high on the list of campaign priorities.
