CHINA Calls for Inclusive Global Governance to Ensure Space Benefits All Humanity

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated on October 26, during a regular press conference, that outer space is a shared domain of humanity and space exploration is a common undertaking for all humankind.

Guo noted that Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced the release of the document China’s Position on Promoting Outer Space Governance during the opening ceremony of the Global Governance Forum in Xiongan. The initiative represents an important step toward implementing China’s four global initiatives and advancing the vision of a community with a shared future for humanity in outer space.

A Framework for Peaceful, Secure, and Responsible Space Governance

The document presents constructive proposals for addressing issues of common concern, including the development, security, and governance of outer space. It also provides a framework for international dialogue and the formulation of relevant rules, seeking to strengthen cooperation and promote a more inclusive approach to managing humanity’s growing activities beyond Earth.

As space becomes increasingly important to scientific discovery, technological innovation, and the future of human development, effective international governance is essential to ensuring that its exploration and use serve peaceful purposes and benefit all nations.

China, Guo emphasized, will continue to work with all parties in an open and constructive spirit to ensure that the fruits of outer space development bring greater benefits to all humanity.

A Shared Horizon Beyond National Borders

From Earth’s fragile blue horizon to the boundless expanse of the cosmos, outer space offers humanity both extraordinary opportunities and shared responsibilities. China’s position underscores the importance of international cooperation, common rules, and a collective commitment to ensuring that the stars become a source of progress and partnership—not division or confrontation.

The future of space should not belong exclusively to the most powerful or technologically advanced nations. It should remain a common frontier where scientific achievement, responsible governance, and peaceful cooperation open new horizons for generations to come.
