Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, met today, December 2, with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia, Ms. Tanja Fajon, on the sidelines of the Cairo Ministerial Conference to Enhance the Humanitarian Response in Gaza.

Minister Abdel Aati praised the development of Egyptian-Slovenian relations in light of the distinguished relations between the two countries, stressing the need to follow up and build on the recommendations issued by the second session of the Joint Economic Committee held in Ljubljana in February 2024, headed by the Foreign Ministers, in addition to the importance of strengthening economic, trade and investment relations between the two countries.

The two sides exchanged views on developments in regional and international situations of common interest, most notably the developments in Gaza and the West Bank, where the Foreign Minister reviewed the Egyptian efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire, pointing to the necessary international moves to support efforts to implement the two-state solution and recognize the Palestinian state. He also appreciated the Slovenian position in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and Slovenia’s balanced position towards the escalating developments in the region, praising Slovenia’s recognition of the Palestinian state in May 2024, as well as Slovenia’s voting in favor of all UN resolutions calling for a ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
