At the first-ever EU–Egypt Summit, a new chapter unfolded in the shared history of Europe and Egypt — a chapter woven with cooperation, innovation, and strategic vision.
Held under the joint leadership of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the summit witnessed the signing of three landmark agreements on macro-financial assistance, reform support, and Egypt’s association with Horizon Europe.
This historic gathering stands as a milestone in the evolution of EU–Egypt relations, grounded in the long-standing Association Agreement and strengthened through the Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership.
President von der Leyen declared:
“The EU–Egypt partnership is stronger than ever before. Our shared vision of cooperation and true partnership between Egypt, Europe and the wider Mediterranean is becoming a reality. Today is a testament to our joint dedication — through the agreements we sign and the summit we hold. This is the direct result of our ambitious Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership, delivering new investments and tangible opportunities for people and businesses across both shores. Our Pact for the Mediterranean carries this spirit forward — it is our invitation to Egypt and our Southern neighbours: let us join forces as partners.”
Later in the day, a High-Level Event titled “Implementing the EU–Egypt Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership: Accelerating Strategic Investment, Industrial Transformation and Innovation” convened an elite circle of European and Egyptian leaders, business figures, development institutions, and research communities.
Together, they explored pathways for deepened investment, industrial renewal, and technological innovation, reaffirming the shared resolve to turn the Mediterranean basin into a bridge of growth, creativity, and enduring partnership.
