At the 16th BRICS Summit, Chinese President Xi Jinping affirmed that China stands ready to be Egypt’s faithful friend of mutual respect and trusted partner in shared development, celebrating a decade of comprehensive strategic partnership between the two ancient civilizations.
Welcoming Egypt’s participation in the BRICS Summit as a full member for the first time, President Xi congratulated President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, noting that this year marks both the China-Egypt Partnership Year and the 10th anniversary of their comprehensive strategic partnership.
Xi reiterated China’s firm support for Egypt’s sovereignty, security, and developmental interests, emphasizing the need for both nations to reinforce mutual political trust, deepen pragmatic cooperation, and jointly advance high-quality Belt and Road projects. He also called for closer cultural and people-to-people exchanges, steering bilateral relations toward the shared goal of building a China–Egypt community with a shared future in the new era.
China, he said, is also eager to strengthen coordination with Egypt to promote the steady, long-term development of BRICS cooperation, amplify the voice of the Global South, and safeguard the common interests of developing nations.
President El-Sisi congratulated China on the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic, praising the fruitful results achieved since the establishment of the strategic partnership a decade ago. Describing China as Egypt’s and Africa’s most sincere friend, he expressed deep gratitude for Beijing’s valuable assistance.
Reaffirming Egypt’s commitment to the One-China principle, El-Sisi stressed Egypt’s full understanding of the paramount importance of the Taiwan issue for China. He pledged to align Egypt’s development strategy with the Belt and Road Initiative, expand practical cooperation, and strengthen multilateral coordination with China to uphold the collective interests of the Global South and promote a fairer, more equitable global governance system.
The two leaders also exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East. President Xi voiced deep concern over the ongoing turmoil, stressing that wars and chaos serve no one’s interests, and reaffirmed that the Palestinian question lies at the heart of the region’s challenges.
He called for the full implementation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions and an immediate end to hostilities in Gaza, emphasizing that only through the two-state solution can a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace be achieved.
President Xi commended Egypt’s pivotal efforts to mediate a ceasefire and end the conflict, pledging that China stands ready to work closely with Egypt to help bring about an early end to the Palestinian-Israeli crisis and ease regional tensions, turning shared diplomatic resolve into a beacon of stability amid turbulent tides.
