The United States marked its return to the Cairo International Book Fair with a cultural flourish, as Chargé d’Affaires Evyenia Sidereas inaugurated the U.S. participation in the Fair’s 57th edition by touring the venue and visiting the U.S. Embassy booth.
Expressing her enthusiasm, Sidereas said, “We are delighted to be back at the Fair for the first time since 2019.” She emphasized that the event transcends the written word, adding, “The Fair is about more than just books; it is about displaying the very best of our literary, historic, and artistic cultures and building bridges between our societies. We are excited to showcase American literature and innovation on this global literary platform.”
The U.S. Embassy in Cairo booth offers visitors a rich cultural experience, featuring a curated selection of American books translated into Arabic, alongside interactive activities introducing elements of American life and creativity. Daily programs include presentations by U.S. diplomats and exchange program alumni, immersive virtual-reality tours of American cities, and information sessions on exchange opportunities and English-language training.
This participation coincides with the United States’ year-long commemoration of the 250th anniversary of its founding, providing a meaningful backdrop to highlight how American literature continues to inspire readers worldwide and encourage dialogue across cultures.
