A delegation of Russian students has returned to Moscow following an academic internship in Egypt—a transformative cultural and human journey that allowed them to connect deeply with Egyptian society and practice Arabic in everyday life.
The delegation included Victoria Boradina, Alina Kulova, Alina Evstratova, Liana Karapetyan, Sofia Sladkova, Anastasia Aderykhina, Andrey Boyanov, and Ekaterina Krivoz.
Marking their first time in the country, the students described the trip as richly diverse. Immersing themselves in daily life allowed them to experience Egyptian culture firsthand. Engaging with locals and using Arabic in real-world situations proved to be the highlight of their stay, reinforcing that direct practice is the most effective way to master the language—particularly the Egyptian dialect.
During their stay, the group explored major historical and cultural landmarks, including the Pyramids of Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). They also traveled to coastal regions like Ain Sokhna and Ismailia, where boat trips and beach days quickly became favorite memories.
Beyond sightseeing, the students embraced local life by trying traditional cuisine, watching an Arabic-language film, and purchasing incense and souvenirs to bring a piece of Egypt back home. They expressed deep gratitude for the warmth and hospitality of the Egyptian people, noting that these human connections made the experience truly unforgettable.
Departing Egypt proved bittersweet, as the students felt they left a piece of their hearts behind.
During their stay, the delegation met with Vadim Zaytsekov, Director of Russian Cultural Centers in Egypt; Dr. Makarem El-Ghamry, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun and Technical Languages; and Sherif Gad, President of the Egyptian Association of Graduates from Russian and Soviet Universities.
Dr. Sherif Fakhry, President of the Egyptian Russian University, highlighted the vital role of student exchange programs in fostering cross-cultural dialogue, deepening mutual understanding, and strengthening the enduring bonds between Egypt and Russia.
