In his address at the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha, His Highness Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs and head of Oman’s delegation, emphasized that the summit comes at a perilous moment in world history. He expressed Oman’s appreciation for Qatar’s efforts in hosting the summit and condemned the recent attack that targeted the State of Qatar, describing it as a stark reminder of the escalating Israeli war in the region—a war that disregards international law, global legitimacy, and the sanctity of innocent lives.

He stressed that targeting Qatar, a nation at the forefront of mediation and peace initiatives for Palestine, only distances the region further from the noble goal of a just and comprehensive peace that guarantees the Palestinian people their legitimate rights.

“Oman affirms that the security of Qatar is integral to the security of the Gulf, and to that of the Arab and Islamic nations,” Shihab bin Tariq declared, underscoring Oman’s unwavering solidarity with Qatar’s leadership, government, and people.

He went on to state that condemnation alone is insufficient, calling for concrete steps, particularly in the legal and diplomatic arenas. He urged Arab and Islamic states to act through the United Nations, the Security Council, and the General Assembly to hold Israel accountable for its crimes and violations, warning that silence by the international community only fuels impunity and encourages further aggression.

“Our meeting today reaffirms that the Arab and Islamic world can face challenges if it unites its voice,” he said. “Unity is the surest path to safeguard the future of our peoples and protect our homelands.”

The summit deliberated on ways to address the grave Israeli attack that targeted senior Hamas figures on Qatari soil, its dangerous repercussions, and the flagrant violation of sovereignty it represented. Leaders also worked on shaping a unified Arab-Islamic response, strengthening joint action against regional security and political challenges, and supporting efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza. The pivotal role of Qatari mediation was highlighted, alongside renewed emphasis on the centrality of the Palestinian cause and the need for a just, comprehensive solution based on international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.

The Omani delegation included Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance; Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Saeedi, Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs; Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Al Harrasi, Minister of Information; Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs; and Ambassador Ammar bin Abdullah Al Busaidi, Oman’s envoy to Qatar.
