Yesterday, Sunday, August 8, Mr. Frank Hartmann handed HE Ambassador Nabil Habashi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Protocol Sector at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a copy of his credentials as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Arab Republic of Egypt. Ambassador Hartmann’s last position was Commissioner for Crisis Management at the German Foreign Office in Berlin.
On the occasion of his inauguration of his position as Ambassador to Cairo, Ambassador Hartmann said: “Egypt is a country with a long history spanning thousands of years and enjoying great cultural richness. It gives me great pleasure to represent Germany over the coming years as an ambassador in this unique part of the world, as our two countries have a trusting partnership that extends for decades in various fields, from the political field to the economic and cultural field to the field of development cooperation, and I am now looking forward to contributing In shaping these close relationships, I look forward to getting to know this country and its people closely.”
It is worth noting that Ambassador Frank Hartmann had joined the diplomatic corps in 1993, and held several positions in the German Foreign Ministry, the Federal Chancellery and German diplomatic missions in Beijing and Tokyo, and also held the position of Director of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner in Sarajevo.
Frank Hartmann succeeds Ambassador Cyril Nunn, who served as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Cairo from August 2019 to August 2, 2021, and then moved to work as German ambassador to the Netherlands.
