Strengthening Ties Amid Regional Challenges: Egypt–Turkey Foreign Ministers Meet in Doha

Cairo, September 14 — Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, met with Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, on Sunday, September 14, on the sidelines of the preparatory ministerial meeting for the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha, Qatar.

The two ministers reviewed the trajectory of bilateral relations between Egypt and Turkey, noting the growing positive momentum in recent times. They emphasized their commitment to building on recent achievements to enhance cooperation in economic, trade, and investment fields, while developing mechanisms for political consultation to strengthen the partnership between the two countries. The discussion also highlighted the importance of fully activating institutional frameworks for Egyptian–Turkish cooperation, which would broaden the horizons of the strategic partnership.

On regional matters, the ministers expressed solidarity with Qatar in the face of the recent Israeli aggression targeting its sovereignty. They also underscored the urgent need to halt Israel’s war on Gaza, rejecting policies of blockade, starvation, and forced displacement. Both sides affirmed the importance of ensuring full humanitarian access and supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
