The Embassy of India in Cairo, in collaboration with MY Bharat under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, successfully organised the Viksit Bharat Run 2025 on Friday, 26 September 2025. Part of a worldwide initiative spanning more than 150 international locations, the run became a global celebration of service, fitness, and sustainability.
In Cairo, the event drew enthusiastic participation from the Indian diaspora, Egyptian friends of India, local running clubs, students, professionals, and community organisations. Together, they transformed the day into a collective statement of unity and purpose.
The run was organised within the framework of Seva Pakhwada (17 September – 2 October), symbolising India’s transformative progress in infrastructure, healthcare, technology, education, and sustainability. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to the Prime Minister’s vision of Developed India @2047, joining hands in the spirit of shared responsibility and progress.
Under the theme “Run to Serve the Nation”, Cairo’s community came together for 4-kilometre runs, embodying values of self-reliance, inclusivity, and environmental stewardship. The turnout was remarkable, with over 650 runners and hundreds of volunteers uniting to make the event a resounding success.
A highlight of the gathering was the collective recitation of the Viksit Bharat and Aatmanirbhar Bharat pledge, where participants expressed their dedication to India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation by 2047. Another memorable moment was the embrace of the “A Tree in the Name of Mother” campaign. Biodegradable seed armbands were distributed to runners, serving as living symbols of India’s commitment to a greener planet.
The celebrations were enriched by a vibrant cultural showcase, featuring the elegance of Kathak and the energy of Bollywood dance, offering Cairo a glimpse into India’s timeless civilizational values and artistic traditions.
The Viksit Bharat Run emerged not only as a sporting event but also as a platform for diaspora engagement and youth mobilisation. With Indian embassies and cultural organisations partnering worldwide, the initiative embodied the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – the world is one family. It was a call for unity, resilience, and collective action, reinforcing India’s cultural and developmental strides on the global stage.
Together, the participants in Cairo and around the world echoed a shared vision: to stride forward toward a Viksit Bharat – a developed, self-reliant India rooted in service, inclusivity, and global leadership.
