Oman hosts ‘General Conference of Arab Music Academy’

The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, is hosting the 27th session of the Arab Music Academy of the League of Arab States, which began yesterday and will last for three days at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Madinah Al Irfan.

The first activities began with holding two sessions of the General Conference of the complex, headed by Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, President of the Arab Music Society, representative of Egypt, in the presence of representatives of Arab countries, members of the Executive Council of the complex, and Rashid bin Muslim Al Hashemi, representing the Sultanate of Oman in the complex.

During the conference, several topics were discussed, including assigning the academic body of the Academy to edit the Journal of Musical Research, the content of the Arab Electronic Music Magazine, and a proposal for the theme of the Academy’s competition in Arabic musical composition for the year 2023 AD.

The conference touched on the date of receiving nominations for the 2024 Arab Music Academy Awards, the awards for university studies and books in the field of Arabic music, the preparations of Arab countries to celebrate the International Arab Music Day for the year 2023 AD, and the endeavor to revive the Arab Child Song Festival during the second half of this year after a 20-year break. years.

It is worth noting that the activities of the Arab Music Academy Conference in its 27th session include the awards ceremony of the Arab Music Society and honoring a number of Omani artists under the auspices of Kamel bin Fahd Al Said, Secretary General of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.

A scientific symposium entitled “Popular Musical Arts in the Arab Countries and the Risks of Their Extinction” will be held under the auspices of Basil bin Ahmed Al-Rawas, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Sports and Youth.
