Bridges of Friendship… Korea and Egypt Celebrate National Day and 30 Years of Ties

Cairo – The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Egypt, led by Ambassador Kim Yong-hyun, hosted a grand reception on Wednesday evening at the “Korean White House” in Maadi to mark the country’s National Day and the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Egypt.

The celebration was attended by prominent figures, including Park Bum-ki, Special Envoy of the President of South Korea, who is currently on an official visit to Egypt; Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation; Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education; and the Governor of Beni Suef.

The event also welcomed a distinguished diplomatic presence, with ambassadors from Oman, the European Union, Mexico, India, Pakistan, Thailand, and the Netherlands among the attendees.

Notable Egyptian figures also joined the gathering, including Eng. Hassan Badrawi, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Wafd Party; Dr. Awatef Serag El-Din, Chairwoman of an international schools group; Hamad bin Mabarik, Deputy Head of the Political Section at the Saudi Embassy; as well as media personalities Magda Barsoum and journalist Ali Abdel Wadood.

In his remarks, Park Bum-ki praised the depth of bilateral ties between South Korea and Egypt, highlighting the fruitful cooperation with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Egyptian government. He affirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening the partnership across economic, social, and cultural fields.
