Ambassador Ihab Fawzy, the Deputy Executive Director of the Women Development Organization, participated in the activities of the Family Forum of the Saudi Family Affairs Council, which was held in Riyadh 2 days ago under the auspices of the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Chairman of the Family Affairs Council, Eng. Ahmed Al-Rajhi.
The intervention of Ambassador Fawzy tackled the family and its importance in society, and that women are the basis for raising young people within the family framework and maintaining its stability, hence the international interest in women. His Excellency mentioned many examples of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s concern for women’s issues, as it adopted the OPAAW as a clear roadmap aimed at enhancing women’s participation in various political, economic and social fields in our Islamic countries. This is in addition to the launch of the Women Development Organization, and its contribution, within the framework of its first program cycle, to the protection of the family in a practical way through four topics that will target women and girls: promoting women’s economic empowerment, eliminating all forms of violence and harmful practices against women and girls, and enhancing women’s leadership role in more peaceful and inclusive societies, and strengthening the role of women in fighting corruption.
His Excellency also affirmed the WDO’s readiness to cooperate with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and member states to implement the OIC strategy for empowering the family and the institution of marriage (2020-2025), as well as national strategies and policies in support of the family, within the framework of the various topics of its first programmatic cycle.
Over the course of two days, the forum discussed the role of the family in the sustainable development system, the vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 2030, and the most important contemporary family issues, with the participation of a group of leaders, experts and high-level specialists from around the world, international organizations and national leaders.
