His Highness Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Film Authority, met in the French city of Cannes a number of Saudi filmmakers during his visit to the Kingdom’s pavilion participating in the 76th session of the Cannes International Film Festival to listen to their aspirations towards the sector and discuss a number of topics. related to the film industry in the Kingdom and its employees, in the presence of His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Culture, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Film Authority, Mr. Hamed bin Muhammad Fayez, and the CEO of the Authority, Eng. Abdullah Al Ayyaf.

At the beginning of the meeting, His Highness listened to the aspirations of Saudi filmmakers, the developments of their cinematic projects, and the most prominent needs that will enable them to present a creative Saudi cinematic industry, as well as an open discussion about the challenges of the cinematic sector, and proposals and solutions that can advance the film industry in the Kingdom.

It is noteworthy that the Film Authority represents the Kingdom at the Cannes Film Festival, which started yesterday and continues until May 26, through a Saudi pavilion that includes a group of the most important local authorities in the cinema sector, including the Cultural Development Fund, the Ministry of Investment, the Red Sea Film Festival, and the Department of Film. Al-Ula Film, NEOM, the Saudi Film Festival, and MBC Studios, along with a group of Saudi filmmakers; With the aim of strengthening the Kingdom’s presence in international film forums, promoting the film sector, and the investment opportunities it offers to those interested in this field, in addition to building international partnerships to build the sector.
