Minister Shoukry heads to Geneva for CONSULTATION as regional issues require

Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zaid, the official spokesperson and director of the Public Diplomacy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will travel today, Wednesday, May 24, 2023, to the Swiss city of Geneva, on a mission aimed at consulting with heads and officials of a number of UN bodies and international organizations in Geneva on various issues. Mr Abu Zeid revealed that the Foreign Minister is scheduled to meet during his visit with Mr. “Martin Griffiths,” the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations for Humanitarian Affairs and the Emergency Relief Coordinator, and Mr. “Filippo Grandi,” the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and Mr. “Volker Turk.” High Commissioner for Human Rights, as well as Ms. Amy Pope, the new Director-General of the International Organization for Migration. The minister’s meetings will discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation programs between the two sides, as well as coordinating efforts on a number of regional and international developments, including the Sudanese crisis and its effects, and ways to provide urgent humanitarian support to the brotherly Sudanese people.
