On Tuesday, December 26, Mr. Sameh Shukri, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received Mr. Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman and director of the Public Diplomacy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Shukri stressed Egypt’s constant keenness to enhance consultation and coordination with Jordan, whether at the summit or ministerial level, in order to confront common challenges and work to find solutions to political crises. And the security that prevails in the region, pointing to the importance of continuing bilateral efforts to deepen and expand economic and trade cooperation between the two brotherly countries, and removing any obstacles in this regard.

Abu Zeid explained that the meeting also witnessed the exchange of visions between the two sides regarding developments in the situation in Gaza and the efforts aimed at reaching a ceasefire, and the implementation of the recent Security Council Resolution No. 2720 regarding increasing the access of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and establishing an international mechanism to monitor and follow up on the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. In light of the obstacles and obstacles that the Israeli side places on the entry of aid.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman added that the two ministers discussed the security of navigation in the Red Sea in light of the importance of the Red Sea route in connection with the international trade movement, and therefore it is an integral part of Egyptian and Jordanian national security. The two ministers reaffirmed the importance of advancing cooperation within the framework of the tripartite cooperation mechanism linking Egypt, Jordan and Iraq, for the benefit of the three countries.
