On behalf of PM Madbuly, Minister of Communications, delivers a speech celebrating the 75th Republic Day of India

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, deputized Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, to participate in the ceremony held by the Indian Embassy in Cairo on the occasion of the 75th Republic Day of India and to deliver a speech on behalf of His Excellency. This was in the presence of Ajit Gupte, Indian Ambassador to Cairo, Dr. Ali Al-Moslehi, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, and a number of ambassadors, diplomats, senior statesmen and public figures. At the beginning of his speech: Dr. Amr Talaat conveyed Dr. Mostafa Madbouly’s congratulations to members of the diplomatic corps and the Indian community in Egypt on this occasion.

Dr. Amr Talaat explained the depth of Egyptian-Indian relations in various fields. Pointing out that there are similarities between the two countries in many aspects, as they are considered the cradle of living civilizations, and they are also linked by ancient trade routes. They are also similar in the struggle of the two peoples for independence and the pursuit of self-determination.

Dr. Amr Talaat added that Egyptian-Indian relations have witnessed great momentum during the year 2023, with the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inviting the President of the Republic, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to participate as a guest of honor in India’s Republic Day celebrations. Mr. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi also received the Indian Prime Minister. In Cairo, he was awarded the “Nile Necklace,” which is considered the highest Egyptian honor. Pointing out that the strong diplomatic relations between the two countries also extend to areas of economic cooperation and common social interests. India invited Egypt to attend the G20 summit last year, and Egypt’s accession to the BRICS group provides the opportunity for a new era of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, investment, knowledge exchange and technology transfer. He explained that cooperation includes a wide range of sectors, including education, electricity, energy, petroleum and mineral resources, in addition to the communications and information technology sector.

Dr. Amr Talaat pointed to the most important achievements achieved to enhance areas of cooperation between Egypt and India in the communications and information technology sector during the year 2023. Among them are attracting one of the largest Indian technology companies to invest in Egypt and establishing a center for exporting information technology services, through which 3,000 Egyptian engineers will be employed in the field of information technology. Pointing to the investment of an Indian company in Egypt in the field of manufacturing mobile phones and smart watches, while another Indian company is cooperating with the Egyptian Telecom Company in the field of testing communications infrastructure equipment. Adding that Egyptian competencies are of interest to Indian companies. Pointing out his visit two weeks ago to the headquarters of an Indian company that employs 3,500 Egyptian specialists in the field of the outsourcing industry, including 700 specialists in Assiut Governorate in Upper Egypt.

Ajit Gupte, Indian Ambassador to Cairo, also delivered a speech; In it, he stressed the close relations between Egypt and India over many years, which have witnessed great development in recent years, especially during the past year. He reviewed the most prominent areas of cooperation between the two countries, and the most important achievements achieved by India during the recent period.
