Madbouly expresses his appreciation for the important partnership between Egypt and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in providing humanitarian aid
Forbes: The Federation looks forward to cooperating with Egypt in the humanitarian aspect of the early recovery and reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, received today Ms. Kate Forbes, President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, in the presence of Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity, and Ambassador Mohamed Mounir, Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Humanitarian Affairs.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister welcomed Ms. Kate Forbes and her accompanying delegation, expressing his appreciation for the important partnership between Egypt and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in providing humanitarian aid.
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly expressed Egypt’s keenness to continue cooperation with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the largest network of humanitarian organizations, which includes more than 190 national societies in the world and 16 million volunteers.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister expressed his aspiration to cooperate with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in the early recovery and reconstruction plan for Gaza, which was adopted by the Arab Summit recently hosted by Cairo.
The Prime Minister added that Egypt will remain committed to providing the necessary aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip, expressing his regret over the Israeli practices that prevent the entry of aid, saying: The residents of the Gaza Strip are in dire need of this aid now in light of the shortage of their basic needs, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly continued that despite the challenges imposed by the Israeli side by closing the crossings leading to the Gaza Strip, Egypt was able to bring in more than 7,000 aid trucks into the Gaza Strip since the start of the ceasefire agreement on January 19 until March 2, 2025; noting that 70% of this aid came from Egypt since the beginning of the crisis in October 2023.
The Prime Minister expressed his aspiration to have the network of associations affiliated with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies participate in implementing the early recovery and reconstruction plan, taking into account that the early recovery phase will extend over the first six months of the plan.
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly touched on Egypt’s efforts to receive Sudanese brothers and provide them with decent living conditions, noting that the Egyptian Red Crescent has established 5 humanitarian service points along the border with Sudan and the roads leading to Cairo.
He also spoke about the humanitarian situation in Syria, stressing Egypt’s keenness on Syria’s sovereignty, unity, security and stability.
For her part, Ms. Kate Forbes, President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, expressed her appreciation for the cooperation between the Federation and the Egyptian government over the past years.
Forbes said that Egypt played the most prominent role in bringing humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, noting that she touched on this matter during her meeting yesterday with Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, and Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity.
She pointed out that the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies looks forward to cooperating with Egypt in the humanitarian aspect of the early recovery and reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip, expressing the International Federation’s aspiration to increase cooperation with Egypt by expanding its activities regionally from Egypt.
Ms. Kate Forbes also praised the important Egyptian role in supporting the Sudanese in the crisis currently facing their country.
During the meeting, Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity, expressed her thanks and appreciation for the great support provided by the Prime Minister to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, and his directives to remove any challenges facing the process of transporting this aid to the Rafah crossing, in accordance with the directives of His Excellency the President of the Republic in this regard, expressing her aspiration to cooperate with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in the humanitarian aspect of the early recovery and reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip.
