The Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Cairo, Mr. Salih Mutlu Şen, expressed his strong support for Turkish students coming to Egypt to learn the Arabic language, describing this initiative as a positive and meaningful step that reflects the deep-rooted cultural and historical connections between the Turkish and Egyptian peoples.
In this context, Ambassador Şen expressed his pleasure in welcoming a group of students from Şehit Mehmet Güder Anatolian Imam Hatip High School, who arrived in Cairo under the supervision of their teachers and school administration with the aim of enhancing their Arabic language skills and engaging directly with Egyptian culture.
The ambassador noted that the students, aged between 15 and 18, showed remarkable enthusiasm to explore and understand Egypt’s rich cultural and historical heritage. He particularly valued their early impressions of Egypt, especially their sense of closeness and familiarity with the Egyptian people.
During their meeting at the official residence, Ambassador Şen listened to the students’ reflections and emphasized the importance of promoting educational and cultural exchange among youth in both countries. He added:
“I hope to see more Turkish students pursuing university education at Al-Azhar University, in both Islamic studies and the natural sciences. It is a prestigious institution that holds a central role in the Muslim world.”
He also encouraged the students to visit some of Cairo’s most significant historical and architectural landmarks, including:
- The Citadel of Salah al-Din, which houses the Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha and the Mosque of Hadım Suleiman Pasha
- The Mosque of Ibn Tulun
- The Mosque of Sultan Hassan
- The Mosque and Mausoleum of Imam Al-Shafi‘i
In closing, Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen emphasized that such visits open new horizons for mutual understanding and help build lasting bridges of friendship between the next generations of Egyptians and Turks.
