At the conclusion of his tenure as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Egypt, Sergey Terentiev bid an emotional farewell to the members of the Association of Graduates of Russian and Soviet Universities, expressing deep gratitude for the human and cultural ties that had connected him with Egypt throughout his years of service.
The farewell gathering took place at the Belarusian Embassy in Dokki, with a delegation from the Association led by Sherif Gad, along with several members and the embassy’s Second Secretary, Eugenia Loussenko. The ambassador expressed his appreciation for the Association’s efforts in supporting the embassy’s activities, highlighting its role in opening important channels of communication with Egyptian leaders in youth, culture, and publishing, which strengthened the bridges of cooperation between Cairo and Minsk.
Ambassador Terentiev emphasized that cooperation with the Association would continue under his successor, underscoring the firm foundation of Belarusian–Egyptian relations built on mutual understanding and shared visions. He pointed to Belarus’s strong economic sectors—mechanical engineering, metallurgy, chemicals, petrochemicals, light industry, food processing, pharmaceuticals, wood, and construction materials—while stressing the high reputation Belarusian agricultural machinery enjoys in Egypt.
He described Egypt as the “Gateway to Africa” and a pivotal partner for Belarus in the Middle East and North Africa, noting the growing cooperation in education, tourism, and culture. The number of Egyptian students in Belarusian universities is on the rise, as is the steady annual flow of Belarusian tourists to Egypt. Looking ahead, he voiced hopes for more Egyptian interest in Belarus’s renowned health resorts and for expanded trade and cultural exchange.
Concluding his remarks with heartfelt words, the ambassador said: “Thank you, Egypt… Mother of the World,” affirming his pride in the friendships he built with Egyptians, whose warmth and openness left a lasting impression.
In a gesture of appreciation, Sherif Gad presented Ambassador Terentiev with a symbolic gift—a model of the Pyramids—on the occasion of his departure, wishing him success in his next assignment. He praised the ambassador as a distinguished diplomat of high caliber who, since his accreditation in 2019, had worked tirelessly to strengthen and expand Belarusian–Egyptian relations across all fields.
