The Chinese President Xi Jinping met on Saturday with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly in Tianjin, ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, which will convene from August 31 to September 1.
During the meeting, Xi emphasized the strategic depth of the China–Egypt comprehensive partnership, highlighting shared interests in advancing economic cooperation, infrastructure development, and cultural exchange. He noted that Egypt, as a key voice in both Africa and the Arab world, plays an important role in fostering stronger South–South cooperation.
Prime Minister Madbouly praised China’s continued support for Egypt’s development priorities, including renewable energy, transport, and technological innovation. He reaffirmed Cairo’s commitment to deepening ties with Beijing, particularly under the Belt and Road Initiative, describing China as a “trusted partner in Egypt’s path to modernization.”
The talks in Tianjin set the stage for closer coordination between the two nations at the SCO summit, further reinforcing their alignment on global development, security, and multipolar cooperation.
